US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin III made the announcement during his visit to Manila. While in the country, Austin also signed a significant military intelligence-sharing agreement with the Philippines.

This new pact aims to strengthen military cooperation between the two nations, particularly in the realm of intelligence sharing and joint military operations.

The US aid will be used to support relief efforts and assist affected communities in their recovery process.
