Metro Manila Crime Rate Drops by 19.61% in January 2025

According to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), crime incidents in Metro Manila dropped by 19.61% in January 2025 compared to the same month last year.The NCRPO recorded 451 crimes against persons and properties, which is 110 fewer cases than January 2024

The significant reductions were seen in various focus crimes, including:

  • Rape: down by 46.49%

  • Physical injuries: down by 37.14%

  • Homicide: down by 28.57%

  • Murder: down by 17.65%

  • Theft: down by 23.05%

The NCRPO attributed this decline to aggressive police operations targeting illegal drugs, loose firearms, illegal gambling, and wanted persons.They also emphasized the importance of strict implementation of local ordinances
