Deadly Football Fan Clashes in Guinea

Dozens were killed, and many others injured, during violent clashes at a football match in N'Zérékoré, southeastern Guinea. The unrest occurred on December 1 during the "General Mamadi Doumbouya" trophy final between N'Zérékoré and Labé. Tensions erupted following a controversial penalty awarded to N'Zérékoré, inciting protests from Labé fans. Chaos intensified when security forces used tear gas, triggering a deadly stampede as spectators rushed to escape through limited stadium exits.

Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah extended condolences, pledged a full investigation, and urged public calm.
